Paris Stories: Le Soir

Paris! She repeated it in a low voice, for the mere pleasure of it; it rang in her ears like a great cathedral bell; it shone before her eyes, even on the labels of her pomade pots.

  Gustave Flaubert, Madame Bovary

The Outfit

Black & Gold Lace Brocade Fitted Jacket: made by my granny Kiki, circa 1930s

Brown Shot Satin Skirt: made by my granny Kiki, circa 1930s/40s

The Soundtrack

Django Reinhardt:  Djangology

Au revoir Paris! The next post will be in the UK again.
Apologies for the fuzzy photography, my cheap as chips camera can't cope in the night time, but I've decided that fuzzy photos have a certain atmospheric charm!

Photographs taken by me, using the self timer on my cheap and basic Kodac EasyShare digital camera, and by Mr Eve using his Iphone.

  1. Incredible blouse and skirt, and what a perfect city / setting to wear them in. Lovely self-portrait in the door.

    1. Ah thanks Amber! I have to make sure I don't ever show my face fully as Emalina is actually a pseudonym and my real identity is a secret! Hence the shots of only parts of my face...

    1. Yay! I am very lucky. Sadly someone stepped on the back of the satin skirt and tore it when I was travelling home on the tube (note to self: wearing floorlength vintage on public transport is a massive no no), so it's on the mending pile now!

  9. Love your sparky top and can hardly bare to look at that Absinthe poster - too many bad memories (and worse hangovers) x

    1. The Absinthe hangovers, so grim! I only had the odd drop when I lived there in the late 90s as it was still illegal then, but I remember it was very strong!
