Dreaming Of A White Christmas

In the bleak midwinter, frosty wind made moan,
Earth stood hard as iron, water like a stone;
Snow had fallen, snow on snow, snow on snow,
In the bleak midwinter, long ago.

The Outfit

Vintage Faux Leopard Fur Coat: bought in Afflecks Palace, Manchester about 17 years ago

Faux Fur Hat: gift from an ex boyfriend about 13 years ago

Vintage Mink Fur Muff: inherited from granny Kiki

Suede Boots: gift from my darling Mr Eve, from Aldo about 10 years ago

Red dress, just seen: inherited from granny Penny

The Soundtrack

Handel: Messiah

Extract from In The Bleak Midwinter, my favourite Christmas carol,
words from the poem by Christina Rossetti

Photographs of our garden in the snow taken a few Christmases ago.
Photographs of me in the rain, wishing for snow, taken today. I'd been planning on wearing a long pale blue silk skirt, but decided against it to protect the silk from trailing in the water....

Wishing all you lovely people a very merry and well dressed Christmas!

I'm delighted to be a part of Visible Monday, hosted by the lovely Patti from www.notdeadyetstyle.blogspot.co.uk, click on the website link to see her outfit and those of many others.

  8. I'm reading the "House By The Dvina"...again!...at the moment so my immediate thought is, how very Russian and Anna Karenina etc.
The boots make me think of a pair my mum had in the 70's, fawn suede, knee length lace ups, Victorian style. I loved them and used to play dressing up with them and totter about in them. I would love a pair but even if she'd kept them they would never fit me now, I have bigger feet. I'm small but she was absolutely tiny.

    1. Ooh I've never heard of that book, sounds wonderful I'll have to check it out! So glad you saw 'Russian' in my outfit, do you know the film Orlando by Sally Potter? The Russian princess in that film is a constant source of wintry inspiration, not to mention the gender bending character of Orlando too.....
Victorian style boots are fab aren't they. Wishing you a very merry chrismtmas LollyWillowes!

    2. I haven't, but I will check it out. It's a lovely book, a memoir of the author's childhood between Scotland and Russia, pre and post revolution. It's a favourite of mine but it is also very sad towards the end. LW xx
