I Dream Of Easters Past

The Layers

I have walked through many lives,
some of them my own,
and I am not who I was,
though some principle of being
abides, from which I struggle
not to stray.
When I look behind,
as I am compelled to look
before I can gather strength
to proceed on my journey,
I see the milestones dwindling
toward the horizon
and the slow fires trailing
from the abandoned camp-sites,
over which scavenger angels
wheel on heavy wings.
Oh, I have made myself a tribe
out of my true affections,
and my tribe is scattered!
How shall the heart be reconciled
to its feast of losses?
In a rising wind
the manic dust of my friends,
those who fell along the way,
bitterly stings my face,
Yet I turn, I turn,
exulting somewhat,
with my will intact to go
wherever I need to go,
and every stone on the road
precious to me.
In my darkest night,
when the moon was covered
and I roamed through wreckage,
a nimbus-clouded voice
directed me:
“Live in the layers,
not on the litter.”
Though I lack the art
to decipher it,
no doubt the next chapter
in my book of transformations
is already written.
I am not done with my changes.

Nina Simone: Feeling Good

Photographs taken by myself and Mr Eve, over the last two years of sunny Easter weekends, using my previous digital camera.
Some day soon the wintry weather will end and the sun will shine like that again.

The Easter eggs were painted by me.

Wishing you all a very Happy Easter, you lovely people!

I'm delighted to be a part of Visible Monday, hosted by the lovely Patti from www.notdeadyetstyle.blogspot.co.uk, click on the website link to see her outfit and those of many others.

Your 1960's mother's dress color is so in trend and fits you so fabulously.

Lets hope this icy patch is a trade off for a glorious summer and we can see you in sandals and those pretty frocks once more. Much as I love your snow pictures I think you look even more beautiful in the sunshine!

  11. Hi Emalina...I have read that the weather has been rather ungracious in jolly 'ol England. I sure hope things improve for you soon. The photos and poetry provided today were beautiful, thank you. Such a lovely apple blossom. Today, I photographed a beautiful magnolia tree in full bloom. Must put a picture up on my blog in the next few days.

  12. Oh how different things are this year! Still, I am sure those two gorgeous frocks will get an outing or two this year, just not quite yet... Love the soft blue of your mother's 60s shift, and as always the photos, and the poetry, are beautiful.
    Have a lovely Easter. xxxx

  13. I'm angry at myself. Before I turned 40 I did'nt think I could show my legs unless they were tanned. Partly bacause my brother teased me because I was pale so I was sunbathing as soon I got the opportunity. This resulted in legs full of freckles. I get so jealous of your pure fine leg. Have stopped sunbathing now, but why did it took me so long to get the selfesteem?! Gah! Well - Beutiful legs dear!
