Where I Lay My Roots

The deep parts of my life pour onward,
as if the river shores were opening out.
It seems that things are more like me now,
That I can see farther into paintings.
I feel closer to what language can't reach.
With my senses, as with birds, I climb
into the windy heaven, out of the oak,
in the ponds broken off from the sky
my falling sinks, as if standing on fishes.

  7. While I will miss your winter posts, those snow drops (that's what they are aren't they?) are beautiful. And that landscape is STUNNING. Beautiful ponies, must be shedding their winter coats now. Lovely images of you, your legs are endless! And that coat is gorgeous.

  8. What a fab outfit!I've been in search of a long felted coat like yours for ever! I bet you can throw it over any outfit and it will look brilliant. You have a statuesque figure and I love the way you have juxtaposed the bright prints with the subtler muted tones.

  12. No snow? I've only followed you briefly and I thought that you were forever the princess in the land of snow, kind of like Narnia. This is another treat, to see you in this magnificent place as it transforms, looking romantic yet firmly rooted in the here and now. Beautiful. I love Rilke too.

    1. I'm relieved to say that there's no snow! Thank you so much for your wonderful compliments, Jean, that's a good summation of my look: romantic but rooted in the here and now. I couldn't have put so well myself! Rilke is an inspiration isn't he, one of my all time favourite poets.

  13. Such great combo! Your coat somehow reminds me of the most beautiful costume (?) ever. The light blue that David Bowie had back in the days.

    1. Ah thank you Ulla-Marie, so glad you enjoyed the post! I know what you mean about the Bowie-ish quality of the coat, it's something about the cut and the colour. Always make me feel very confident when I wear it.

  15. Your mother´s 70s coat is like a blue cloud letting the flowers slowly out.
Always magic and inspiring, my dear friend.
Every summer I walk the English & Scottish countryside, and your photos bring so many wonderful memories, ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhh

    1. Ah thank you Kathleen! I'm a horse fan too, although to appreciate their beauty rather than to ride them - I tried to learn when I was younger and was just too scared after a couple of close shaves!

  20. The coat is dreamy. The color, the length, the style, but most of all how you wear it with panache. The other pieces of the ensemble flow perfectly with you and the coat.

Your photos are dreamy too. How quickly the snow disappeared and created a new landscape for us to admire.

    1. Thank you Judith, how kind of you! Yes it's a relief to see the back of the snow. Ours is a spring garden, so come April/May it will hopefully be a riot of colour fingers crossed!

  21. Incredible! I love the boots with the floral jeans but you make it retro and nostaligic with that gorgeous dove grey long coat. At once pioneer, cowpoke and civil war vertern, the feel of this outfit is so much more than mere dressing. Evocative and modern and timely.

    1. Ah that explains it then! Good for you to have the two on the go, sweetheart. Different styles or both rock bands? I used to sing in a band as a teen, loved it, but I've become more of a jazz singer as I've got older. Very impressed by your lead singer status, and want to hear you in action sometime, if only virtually!
