Stretching Up Towards The Sun

I wandered lonely as a cloud
That floats on high o'er vales and hills,
When all at once I saw a crowd,
A host, of golden daffodils;
Beside the lake, beneath the trees,
Fluttering and dancing in the breeze.

Continuous as the stars that shine
And twinkle on the milky way,
They stretched in never-ending line
Along the margin of a bay:
Ten thousand saw I at a glance,
Tossing their heads in sprightly dance.

The waves beside them danced; but they
Out-did the sparkling waves in glee:
A poet could not but be gay,
In such a jocund company:
I gazed--and gazed--but little thought
What wealth the show to me had brought:

For oft, when on my couch I lie
In vacant or in pensive mood,
They flash upon that inward eye
Which is the bliss of solitude;
And then my heart with pleasure fills,
And dances with the daffodils.

  1. Emalina! Just tremendous, amazing dress with the sleeves, the print, the red cuff, the daffodils, and the sun and you. That you and your sweetheart planted all of that glory is very dear.

  2. I love that frock, perfect. As is Suzanne, I quite like Nina Simone singing it, too. There's nothing quite like the lift one gets from Spring flowers, either.

  4. That is a truly stunning dress, the sleeves and the colours and the print are beautiful. Perfect for frolicking among the daffodils in the Spring sunshine! I always quote Wordsworth to the kids at the sight of lots of daffs, and they roll their eyes and say "oh Muuuuum..." in that she's-off-again voice they seem to have perfected! xxx

  6. You are as beautiful as the daffodils with the trees like sculptures surrounding you. The floating shawl sleeves are a tribute to spring. The deep country is endless in its beauty and all to the soundtrack o Leonard Cohen. I love to follow the changing of seasons on your blog, with your creativity and nature as its background.

  8. What an absolutely perfect post, Emalina. I can just hear Leonard Cohen crooning in the background as you frolic among the daffodils in your lovely 70s frock. I love that poem too. I remember memorizing it in grade four, and I always thought it was so dreamy. You look as though you could be strolling through the Lake District that Wordsworth loved so well. Thanks for sharing - this made my day. Xo

  10. Swoon! Oh, darling, I absolutely love that dress, you look an absolute vision of hippy beauty. The poem brings back sweet memories of hanging about in the graveyard at Grasmere with Krista on a rainy September day last year. xxxx

  12. Naturalized daffodils are one of the most beautiful springtime sights. I am so looking forward to following along as your garden grows and greens.

    Very 70's dress, and fabulous on you Emalina. I've never been brave enough to buy clothing on Ebay. You seem to buy the most perfectly fitting and flattering clothes. And this dress is no exception.

    Glorious!
